Judicial Experience

Dan O’Brien is a former trial judge with more than 25 years of combined judicial and legal practice experience. On the bench, he presiding over both civil and criminal jury and bench trials. As a County Court at Law Judge, he gained unique insight into contested probate matters, including estate administration disputes. His judicial perspective was bolstered while serving as briefing attorney to Justice Davie L. Wilson of the Texas First Court of Appeals where he drafted more than 50 appellate opinions for adoption by assorted judicial panels.

Mediation Training

In 2009, Dan was certified as a mediator by the University of Texas School of Law’s Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution (“CPPDR”) in 2009. In 2018, he was selected as a CPPDR Fellow and trained in managing conflict between governmental and non-profit entities.

ADR Service

Dan presently serves on the Board of Directors for the Central Texas Dispute Resolution Center where he also volunteers as a mediator. He is a member of the Texas Association of Mediators and a Credentialed Mediator by the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association.

Legal Practice

As an attorney, he has worked for medium and large law firms and managed his own practice for several years. His practice has focused primarily on commercial, real estate, and general civil litigation matters.
