Rex has an AV-Preeminent Rating for legal ability and ethical standards with Martindale-Hubbell, which has provided peer-reviewed ratings of attorneys since 1887. Rex’s practice focuses on real estate development, banking, corporate mergers and acquisitions, municipal law, probate, and estate planning. Rex started his legal career in Houston at a large law firm, practicing in banking, real estate, securities and general business. He moved to Dripping Springs in 1991 where he started his own firm. From 1995 to 2006, Rex served as the Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4, Hays County. In that role he served as a member of the Texas Bar Association Judicial Ethics Committee and as the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Justices of the Peace and Constable Association. In 2004, he was appointed to the State Commission on Judicial Conduct and in 2006 he served as Chair. Rex has served on multiple boards, including the Dripping Springs Independent School District Educational Foundation, the Greater Dripping Springs Community Foundation, and the City of Dripping Springs Economic Development Commission. He is the Past President of the Board of Directors of the University of Texas Foundation. Rex is also the former City Attorney for the City of Dripping Springs and the City of Horseshoe Bay.
